They said
it was nothing personal,
really not
but what we
need,
what we
need around here (they said) is
a softer
hand on the tiller,
some, well,
some goddess energy,
something
that you as
a male person,
loaded down
with the weight
of your y
chromosomes, just
can’t
provide.
I argued, I
wheedled
I threw my
head from side to side.
They just
waited for me
to be
finished.
And as it
happened
they were
right,
I had no
goddess energy on tap.
If I had,
I’d have kept it
for myself
and not
gone spreading it around
for the
basking of strangers.
