They lie together or perhaps just side by side
like an old married couple that had planned well
ahead and made tedious installment payments
on a grave for two, but then one of the pair
had passed over years to soon, or the other too late.
And now they share only a vague distaste at
their enforced intimacy with someone who really
should have been a complete stranger after all.
